§ The long becoming
01 2018 · La intención

The intention was
planted first.

The work began long before any deed was signed. The intention for Casa Kallpa was planted long before the land ever appeared, and it was only after surrendering to the process, walking through our own transformation, and deepening our relationship with the medicines and wisdom of the Amazon that the land finally revealed itself. What was once only a vision became something tangible — a sacred space born through intention, trust, and alignment with something far greater than ourselves.

"The vision arrives first. The path reveals itself later."
02 2019 · La tierra

A piece of jungle
chose us.

After years of searching, the land found us at the exact moment it was meant to. When we first arrived, it was almost bare. The previous owners had burned their crops before selling, leaving the earth open, stripped, and quiet. And yet, beneath that stillness, there was something undeniable calling us in. The land holds its own spring water, a river that moves through the property, and a mountaintop with expansive views over the jungle. It sits within a protected natural reserve, surrounded by untouched virgin rainforest. It felt like arriving at something that was asking to be tended, remembered, and brought back into its fullness — a relationship of restoration, reciprocity, and care.

03 2020 · La primera piedra

The first stone
became a portal.

Before any walls went up, before the pipes were laid or the structures took shape, there was nothing here but open land. The only thing standing was a gate at the entrance, no fence around it, no building behind it, just a frame marking where something was about to begin.

That gate was the first stone of Casa Kallpa. Placing it wasn't really the start of construction; it was the opening of a portal. It marked the line between what this land had been and what it was becoming: a healing center in the Peruvian Amazon. Nothing else was built yet, nothing defined, but the intention was already set. A portal was opened.

Every tree
planted by hand.

When we first arrived, the land was stripped bare with only a handful of trees left standing. What's growing here now, we planted ourselves, one by one, by hand. Every fruit tree, every medicinal plant, every patch of shade was placed into the earth with intention. Today the land holds bananas, guavas, caimitos, oranges, mandarins, coconuts, aguaje, pomarosas, and avocado trees — fruit that feeds the people who come to heal here. Alongside them grow the plants the jungle has used as medicine for generations: ruda, malva, llantén, ajo sacha, chuchuhuasi, uña de gato, and sangre de grado to name a few. Each tree, each plant, is part of bringing this land back to life, and part of what makes Casa Kallpa what it is.

El cuidado · the daily tending

Now we
tend.

Today, our role is simple: we tend. We care for the soil, the trees, the water keeping the land healthy so it can keep being what it is. As it has come back to life, the wildlife has come with it. Birds fill the trees we planted years ago. Monkeys pass through our property. Butterflies and bees move through the gardens, and our chickens roam the grounds as part of the everyday rhythm here. Everything has a place. We don't manage this land so much as live alongside it, coexisting with everything that calls it home. We've worked to create a sanctuary where everything is welcome. This is a relationship, not ownership. We tend to the land the way it tends to us and in return, the land continues to guide us, protect us, and hold space for everyone who comes here to heal.
